Frequently asked questions.
What is equine bodywork?
Body work is a comprehensive treatment that involves more than just massage; it is a holistic treatment of the horse that involves developing a comprehensive program for continued wellness even after I leave your farm. It is preventative as well as treats the current areas of dysfunction. From areas that are functioning sub-optimally to areas that are in full spasm, bodywork can help.
My appointments incorporate a wide range of modalities, such as massage, myofascial release, acupressure, spinal mobilization, red light, intrasound therapy, kinesiotaping and stretching.
What type of horse needs equine bodywork?
I believe every horse deserves to feel well. Whether they are a Grand Prix jumper or a pasture pony, they could all be experiencing pain and compensatory patterns that need to be addressed and would benefit from a little TLC.
What type of horse would you not work on?
If your horse has not been cleared by a vet from a previous injury, has not had their feet maintained, has not had their teeth done on a schedule, has had vaccines within three days, infection, skin conditions, certain stages of pregnancy, or is exhibiting acute symptoms.
How often should a horse get worked on?
In a perfect world, I would love to see horses that are ridden regularly on a 6 week schedule. Every horse and case is different so there is no true “one size fits all”. I know that is not always feasible, I discuss with every client their specific horses’ needs as well as their own, and we form a plan together.
What is your service area?
